As you may have read in my 'About me' section I have a lot of experience when working with children. I used to be a teacher for 11years, teaching in mainstream and spending 8 years in a Special needs school. As well as having two daughters of my own, therefore you can feel completely at ease that I will tailor the sessions just for your child in mind and build a repore to allow treatment to be successful.
You may wonder how hypnotherapy can work with children?
Have you ever noticed how your child is in their own little world, either when wathcing TV, playing on an Ipad, engaged in an activity or play. You may have noticed that they completely ignore you as they become in a trace like state, much like when your daydreaming. However as we always say, their ears are always listening! This is how Hypnotherapy can work with children...
For the younger children I generally get the children engaged in activities and whilst they are engaged I may 'droan' on in the background allowing my words to be heard. We may also do some imagination (which children are fantastic at!) Making the activities engaging to your child's interests to they don't actually realise they will be changing the way their mind works.
For older children I may be able to work in the same way as adults, if they feel comfortable to relax and listen to my words, or not listen.
I will always make the session about the child (barely speaking with the parents who come to the session). Instead i will make time before the session to speak with you over the phone about the progress and what I plan for the next session. This way the child feels it is all for them and about them, not mum or dad. I will give you and your child little activities to do between session to help continue the work we do in sessions at home. Like a tool box of useful techniques.
Remember as stated on my main hypnotherapy session. The client, in this case your child, is in fully control. They do not have to listen to what I say, but if they want to change then they will process these words into their own words.
Hypnotherapy can be fantastic for children and really valueable.
